Veteran Education Benefits and Certification

Trinity Bible College and Graduate School supports students who are members of the Armed Forces, including members of the Reserve and National Guard, whose military service temporarily interrupts their enrollment.

In accordance with the Department of Defense Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (DoD MOU), paragraph 3.i.(1), and applicable federal requirements, Trinity provides readmission opportunities for eligible Service members and reservists who are temporarily unable to attend classes or must suspend their studies because of military service requirements.

A currently enrolled Service member or reservist who is required to interrupt their education because of military service should notify the Registrar’s Office as soon as reasonably possible and provide appropriate documentation of their military service or orders when requested. Trinity will work with the student to address the interruption of enrollment in accordance with applicable federal requirements and institutional policies.

Upon completion of the period of military service, an eligible student may request readmission by contacting the Registrar’s Office. Trinity will process the student’s readmission in accordance with applicable federal law, including the requirements for readmission of Service members, and the DoD MOU. When required by federal law, the student will be readmitted with the same academic status they held when they last attended Trinity.

Military service will not, by itself, be a basis for denying an eligible Service member or reservist readmission to the student’s academic program. Trinity will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption to the student’s academic progress resulting from military service and will assist the student with re-enrollment and continuation of their academic program upon return.

Students receiving VA educational benefits should also communicate with Trinity’s VA School Certifying Official regarding their military service, interruption of enrollment, and return to enrollment to ensure that applicable VA requirements are addressed.

Yes, students who are required to pay tuition and fees upfront while awaiting the start of their benefits will be reimbursed once those benefits are active. This applies only to students using Chapter 33 or Chapter 31 VA benefits, and in some cases, military tuition assistance.

Enrolling in 12+ credit hours during a 16-week semester in Undergraduate Studies is considered full-time, and 9 credit hours during a 16-week semester in the Master’s program is considered full-time. 

First, ensure that all required documents have been submitted to our office so we can begin processing and certify your enrollment for the applicable academic term. If your paperwork is complete and we have submitted your certification, you must then verify your enrollment with the VA—this is a required step for students using Chapter 1606 and Chapter 33 benefits.

Please note: Most VA payments are deposited either on the first day of the month or within 5–7 business days after enrollment verification. Our office does not manage or process VA payments to students and cannot view the status of pending payments. Only the VA has access to that information.

No, those deposits are the student’s responsibility and must be paid upfront. 

These costs are not directly covered by your G.I. Bill, which only applies to tuition and fees. You are responsible for paying the remaining balance to Trinity by the applicable deadline. However, you may use your VA monthly housing allowance (MHA) to reimburse yourself for those expenses.
