Lions Basketball Hosts Senior Night and Parents Night

The Trinity Bible College Lions basketball team played host to NIAC Conference opponent Oak Hills Christian College over the weekend. They also hosted “Senior Night” for Friday, February 1st’s game and “Parents Night” for Saturday, February 2nd’s game. The Trinity Bible College Athletic Department honored its 4 seniors before Friday night’s game and then before Saturday’s game they honored the parents for all their support this season.

            Before Friday’s game the four senior were recognized for their four years of hard work and dedication at Trinity Bible College: Cameron Martell, David Rohrbach, Michael Rohrbach and Mikey Rosario were all given a gift and then they went to work. The Lions jumped out to an early lead over Oak Hills and never looked back. The Lions shot 59 percent in the first half on 28 for 47 from the field. They took a 65 to 34 lead into halftime being paced by Mikey Rosario’s 22 first half points. The second half followed the same theme as the Lions scored 42 second half points and held Oak Hills to just 20. The Lions won 107 to 54 with all 8 Lions getting to play and all 8 Lions scoring in the game. The game was highlighted by a pair of dunks from sophomore Nick Lentz who finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Mikey Rosario led all scorers with 37 points; he added 5 assists and 4 steals. Senior David Rohrbach added 17 points and 6 rebounds while twin brother Michael Rohrbach pitched in 10 points and 6 rebounds.  The Lions finished the game shooting 54 percent from the field and had 22 assists.

            On Saturday before the rematch against Oak Hills the parents were recognized for all their hard work and support. The game was the same as the Lions got the Lead early and never looked back. This time the Lions took a 20 point lead into halftime 46 to 26. They shot 56 percent from the field in the first half and had 12 assists on 20 shots. The second half the Lions again shot the ball well going 40 percent from the field. The Lions added 15 offensive rebounds in the second half. They went on to win 97 to 49. In the win the Lions were again led by Mikey Rosario who had 29 points 5 assists and 4 steals. AJ Anthony added 19 points and 8 rebounds, while senior David Rohrbach recorded his second career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Cameron Martell pitched in 8 points and 7 rebounds.

            The two wins help snapped a 7 game losing streak and improves the Lions record to 9 and 14 and the year. The Lions will now travel to Rochester, MN to take on NIAC Conference foe Crossroads College for a weekend series February 8th and 9th.
