Is it hard to learn how to use the online course site?
Not at all. Using the online course site is similar to using e-mail, your computer at work, or any basic software program.
How do I receive and hand in assignments?
Just log in to your online course site. You can view and print assignments, as well as discuss them with your classmates. The course site allows you to submit your assignments using Microsoft Word documents.
How do I interact with my instructor and classmates?
By e-mail: Students and instructors exchange email ad dresses at the beginning of each course, which enables going discussion outside of the online course site. By phone: You are free to exchange phone numbers with classmates. Using online course discussion threads: Track ical discussions or respond to questions posed by your instructor.
What kind of support can I expect from faculty and advisors?
Learners can contact faculty members and advisors via e-mail as long as they are registered in TBC courses.
What time are classes held?
Any time, day or night, you can access your class and participate via our online course site, as long as you have an Internet connection. Students usually need to log in 2 to 5 times each week, but there is no set class schedule so you can “attend class” anytime. Typically, TBC learners spend an average of 4 to 6 hours per week per course depending on such factors as number of course credit hours, course level, and learner's prior knowledge.
Do classes have specific start and end dates?
Yes, each TBC course has a designated start and end date. We have three semesters per year consisting of 15 weeks each: Spring, Summer and Fall.
How long will my program take me to complete?
The amount of time you will need to earn your degree depends on several factors, including: Whether you transfer in previously earned college or university credit Whether you receive credit for prior learning How many classes you take at one time
Do I need previous college credits to enter the TBC DE program?
The quick answer is that previous college experience is helpful, but not required. To get an idea of how your specific professional, volunteer, and academic history might translate to credit, you will need to speak with the TBC DE academic advisor.
What if I earned poor grades in high school and my earlier college-level work?
We are more interested in the fact that you completed high school (or received your GED) than your specific grades. In addition, most adult students have gained quite a bit of maturity, focus, and motivation since high school. TBC accepts transfer credit from accredited institutions for coursework graded a C or better.
Can I get credit for experience?
Yes! If you have learned things in your life or work equivalent to what you may have acquired in a college classroom, it may be possible to incorporate that learning into your TBC DE program. TBC will assess your experiential credit once you have enrolled.
Do I need to live near the Ellendale campus?
No! Most of our students live beyond driving distance from the campus. While we do offer on-campus courses and degree programs, the DE program is structured for students to learn at any distance from campus, whether right in town or abroad.
How long will it take to get a degree?
The amount of time needed to complete the degree depends on two factors: (1) how much college level learning a student has completed before entering TBC, and (2) how quickly a student completes the requirements after enrolling.
How much does TBC cost?
The current rate is $385 per credit hour. You'll find that TBC DE program is a highly affordable way to earn a Biblical Studies degree. Financial aid is also available.
Do I need to send in all my application materials at once?
No, but your admissions interview will not be scheduled until we have all official transcripts, other materials, and the $25 application fee.
